Your health is one of your biggest assets, so making it a priority is one of the most important things you can do. This doesn’t require a massive overhaul of your current routine, but smaller changes that you can stick to are much more effective long term. These will soon become a regular part of your routine. So, let’s get into it and help you make your health a priority this year!
Get Your Body Moving
We’re not here to give really strict instructions on how you should be doing more exercise, but this tip is really simple, which is to get your body moving. Everyone is different, and so are their capabilities in terms of exercise and movement, so your goal in 2023 should be simply to move more. This might be increasing your steps, weight lifting in the gym, going swimming, going to yoga, stretching more, playing more sport or a combination of the above. Moving your body regularly (150 minutes a week is advised) can help with so many things, from reducing your risk of chronic diseases to improving the strength of your muscles and improving bone density. You don’t need to be doing 5 days of intense exercise in the week, but simply doing something and getting yourself moving is really important. There are so many different ways for you to do this, so just make sure that you’re trying different things to find a form of exercise that you love. Getting yourself some new gym leggings and a new gym top always helps too! You should feel confident and great in your gymwear and if you don’t, it can put you off exercising.
Eat More Fruit and Veg
Another thing that you can do to prioritise your health is to eat more fruit and veg. These food categories are packed full of nutrients that are so important for your overall health, as they help all of your essential bodily functions to run properly. So, rather than cutting out any food groups, a positive change is to focus on eating more fruit and veg which will naturally fill you up. Aim to eat as many different coloured fruit and veg as you can, as they tend to contain lots of different nutrients to help different parts of your body. A good tip to save on food waste and also money is to buy frozen fruit, as this is a really great way to make sure you always have something healthy on hand to throw into a smoothie!
Drink More Water
Last but not least, another great thing you can do is drink more water. Water is absolutely essential for our bodies, from helping our immune system to removing waste, regulating body temperatures and protecting tissues. So, try swapping out a glass of fruit juice, alcohol or caffeine for water, and the more you can do this, you will really feel the difference throughout the day. Keep a big bottle of water at home or on your desk at work and try to get through as much as you can throughout the day!
