Architects are the people behind the design, planning and construction of beautiful buildings and related physical structures we see on regular basis.  However, it would be wrong to assume that architects are only responsible for design and construction of physical structures.  Their knowledge and expertise is also required when it comes it comes to solving issues pertaining to physical structures and man-made environment. The scope and employments prospect in this dynamic and exciting discipline is tremendous in India. However, in order to be a qualified and competent architect you have to spend some time and money pursuing B. Arch (Bachelor of Archaeology) degree from  Best Architecture institutes in Lucknow  or for that matter top architectural college located anywhere else in the country.  The duration of B. Arch degree program is five years i.e. it is five years long undergraduate level Degree course.

Course detail of B. Arch Program

Bachelor of Architecture is a 5 years long undergraduate level Degree program. A B. Arch course structure followed by well-established architecture colleges in Delhi NCR or for that matter anywhere else in India is likely to be a judicious mix of both theory and practice. The curriculum involves a holistic mixture of classroom lectures, studio practical sessions, lab work, internship, industrial training and practical training. There are two semesters each year meaning that there will be altogether 10 semesters. The academic program is divided into two stages. The first stage (semesters 1 to 6) is a full time study stage. As soon as you complete your sixth semester, you will be required to undergo practical training which is of six months duration. Students have to gain practical experience during these 6 months. The second phase starts after the completion of practical training session mentioned above. After 9th semester, thesis work is involved in B.Arch. course.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this course, you have to have completed your 10+2 exam from a recognized board in India with 50 per cent marks aggregate marks. Also, only those candidates are considered eligible for B. Arch who has Mathematics as the main subject at intermediate level. What it means is that a student is eligible to pursue B. Arch irrespective of his streams. What it means is that a student may have passed 10+2 in arts, science or commerce streams, he /she can pursue B. Arch provided Math was one of the main subjects in intermediate.

However, it is of utmost important to note that you are no more eligible for B. Arch if you are not from the science stream. The CoA (Council of Architecture) has issued a new mandate. According to it, Commerce and Arts stream students won’t be able to pursue B.Arch. course in future. 10+2 Science stream (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects) passed from a recognized board will be the new minimum educational qualification required to pursue Bachelor of Architecture course. Minimum aggregate marks required in PCM subjects are 50% (along with valid NATA score).

The new minimum standards for Architecture education will come into effect from the academic year 2018 onward. Students and readers are requested to take note of this fact!
